What is a CFD?
A contract for difference settles in cash the difference between the price when you open a trade and the price when you close it, without owning the underlying asset. You gain if the price moves in your direction and lose if it moves against you, whether you buy or sell.
Leverage lets you open a position larger than the margin set aside for it, so gains and losses grow in the same proportion.
How position value and margin are calculated
Position value = volume in lots × contract size × price, and required margin = position value ÷ leverage. Contract size differs between markets and instruments; you will find it for every instrument in its market table.
Trading hours
Cryptocurrencies trade around the clock, seven days a week, while forex and metals close at the weekend. All hours are in UTC.
